Single Player Mocap Shoot

HUGE UPDATE: Adding Single Player Campaign and Offline AI Bots, Tommy Jarvis, New Map - Packanack Lodge, and much more!!!

Project Update

Let's get right down to it... This is a HUGE update and we have lots to talk about.

We at Gun Media and IllFonic are very proud to announce that we're going to be able to give everyone that pre-ordered the game, and all those that buy the game from here on out, the most-often requested features and content!

Friday the 13th: The Game will feature the multiplayer experience that we've been building to date; but we're also announcing that we're adding a single player experience and the inclusion of AI bots!!! We've heard it from many fans on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, our own Forums, Reddit, in person at various conventions... You want offline play and Single Player, and we've listened and found a way to accommodate it in the budget and our schedule.  

While the addition of Single Player and AI Bots means a bigger game for all, they also mean a delay from a Fall 2016 release window to a new launch window scheduled for Spring 2017. Gun Media and IllFonic will use the time to lay down the groundwork for the single player experience while continuing development of the multiplayer portion with additional content that we're about to talk about below.

 

We're also announcing that Tommy Jarvis will return to Camp Crystal Lake as a playable character! As you all likely know, Tommy Jarvis is featured in multiple films in the franchise and is one of Jason's main protagonists and he'll return ready for battle. 

We have a big new map to announce too! Today we're revealing that Packanack Lodge is our 3rd playable map that we'll be offering in the multiplayer game. Fans can return to the scenes of Friday the 13th: Part 2 and play out their own horror movies in legendary film locations. 

Release Schedule

The release schedule is roughly as follows: 

• Fall 2016: Beta Release including 4 additional beta keys for friends when pre-ordered (KS Backers will get an additional 4 beta keys for their friends as well)
• Spring 2017: Multiplayer Release with Tommy Jarvis and Packanack Lodge as the third playable map 
• Summer 2017: Single Player Release and Offline AI Bots

Here is a quote from Gun Media studio head & co-creator Wes Keltner. "The first thing people are going to read here is 'delay. We want everyone to be assured that coming to our decision to delay was no easy matter, but we believe that the positives far outweigh the negatives. We've been reading day in and day out on our social media feeds that single player and Tommy Jarvis were in such a demand that we couldn't ignore our fans. After securing funding, we're here to tell you that it is a reality and we're making this game even bigger. It sucks that there's a delay, but the wait won't be too long and it's going to offer more for fans in the long-run!"

Pricing

As of today, we're happy to announce that all those who believed in the game and have already backed or pre-ordered to support the game, those individuals will receive single player for free when the game releases. No additional charges. 

The new price of the game henceforth will increase from $30USD digital to $40USD digital, and the physical copy will remain priced at $60USD. We believe that digital prices should include a savings for those that purchase them, and those that want to hold a physical copy in their hands can pay more for it, since it costs more to produce, manufacture and distribute. It's logical and we at Gun Media scratch our heads when we see digital pricing for games that matches the physical pricing. 

Beta Coming This Fall (4 Free Beta Keys for Friends)

Later this Fall we will be releasing the Beta for Friday the 13th: The Game! Every KS backer that backed the game and will be getting a beta key will get 4 additional Beta keys to give out to friends. Kickstarter Backers will get access to the Beta earlier than anyone else.

All pre-orders that have been made to date and any that will happen from here on out until the Beta will also get 4 additional Beta keys for their friends.

Virtual Cabin Update

There is no Virtual Cabin update this week, but we'll return on Friday Oct. 21st with one. Look for new Counselors, and another surprise next week!

BackerKit Pre-Orders

** IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT (PLEASE READ) **

We'll be charging pre-orders and running cards on the last Friday of every month from here on out until we ship the game. If you've pre-ordered anything from BackerKit recently (since June 8th) you'll be getting charged and having your order locked in. If you were charged during Kickstarter, or back anytime before Friday Sept. 30th, then you will NOT be charged again. I repeat, if you were already charged, you will not be charged again. This reminder is only for those that pre-order between now and Launch.

This Friday, October 28th, credit cards will be charged. Every last Friday of every month will also have cards charged.

Get your orders in for any add-ons you may be looking to pick up. You can still update addresses yourselves as well, so keep that in mind.

Friday the 13th: The Game Twitch Streams

Join us on Twitch this Friday (and every Friday) for some fun Horror gameplay! We've been playing Layers of Fear, Outlast and just last week did Resident Evil 4 and the Outlast 2 Demo. Tune in this Friday at 8pm EST/5pm PST to watch @Randygbk return to take on the alien in Alien Isolation and answer questions from the community about the game.

Playstation 4 Backer Update: Response Needed! Please Return to your BackerKit Surveys & Select Your Game/DLC Region!

Hi Everyone,

Playstation 4 Game/DLC Region Selection

We need all Playstation 4 Backers to go and select the region you want your game for (it should almost always be the one where you live except in special circumstances). We have a deadline for September 30th for this to get done, otherwise we'll default to the region where you live.

The game and DLC regions should match, Sony doesn't let you mix and match the game and DLC regions or savegames. This is important to note.

Project Update

Howdy Campers!

Summer is pretty much over, just 3 days left officially. The year has flown by and soon Fall begins! We know everyone is anxious for more news, so we've decided to up the frequency we'll be updating here on Kickstarter.

We wanted to do a quick update tonight to reveal a new counselor, announce the next Virtual Cabin update, but also remind everyone that we'll be charging cards this Friday, September 23rd. Let's start some quick updates and goodies!

Dev Updates

The team at Illfonic have been hard at work, and our Friday internal playtests have been going exceedingly well because of it all. 

Below we have a screenshot of some in-progress work on the character shader in UE4. The shaders help our already great character models look even better, by making skin look more real and improves the overall appearance of them. 

 

Now, it's time to check out the latest Jason being added to the game.

Friday the 13th: Part 6 marks the first appearance of undead Jason in the films. It was an important moment in the franchise, and now we're doing our damnedest to recreate him for Friday the 13th: The Game. Soon you'll be able to get up close and personal with the man behind the mask.

This Jason model was particularly tough to get right due to the lack of high-res reference images and full body shots with the undermask/makeup. Thanks to many of our partners, cohorts and fans, we've been able to accurately construct Jason to the highest level of detail possible. Hopefully we've helped do our part to preserve a piece of horror and pop culture history!

Now let's jump in and meet our new counselor!

New Counselor Concept Art (Rocker Chick)

Say hi to A.J. Mason! She's a tough as nails rocker, who doesn't take shit from anyone. Her high Composure stat makes her perfect for maintaining her cool when Jason shows up and starts murdering counselors. She's able to slink around, hiding to survive, with a high Stealth stat as well.

New Virtual Cabin Update

Tonight we'll be posting an update to the Virtual Cabin! We're unlocking the Kitchen and the Bathroom for exploration. Be sure to examine everything you come across, as you never know what you might find...

Project Update

Hi Campers!

Summer is winding down and Fall will soon begin! We have a big update tonight... 

Let's kick everything off with the posting of our kill video from PAX West 2016!

PAX West 2016 was INSANE! So much fun was had, we met tons of fans, backers and streamers all waiting to get their hands on the game. We loved every wince, shriek, and laugh we got from the panel audience and wish to thank everyone that came out that night...

Speaking of panel... We also have our Full Panel Video with the Man, the Myth, the Legend and Sultan of Splatter, Tom Savini!!

Virtual Cabin Updates!!!

As some of you enlightened campers know, the Conservatory unlocked 2 weeks ago. With all the hub-bub surrounding PAX and leading up to it, we had to push off our update tonight to a later date. We'll return soon to unlock more awesome rooms, models and easter eggs in the near future!

The Virtual Cabin came about after the Kickstarter as a way to let all of the Backers, and Friday the 13th fans following the game, come behind the scenes. We really want to bring all of you along for the ride, and do so in an interactive way.

You can get a taste of what's to come in the full-game, listen to audio dev blogs, hear music from the soundtrack, and explore the mysteries of Camp Crystal Lake from within the cabin. $15 gets you access on Steam and you'll get regular updates as it expands. Pick it up for some amazing Friday the 13th fan service!!

New Counselor Concept Art (The Jock)

Brandon "Buggzy" Wilson is the strongest and most athletic of all the counselors and he has the energy to stick in the fight! With a high Stamina & Strength stat, we have our heavy-hitter of the crew. Brandon plays multiple sports and maintains a high GPA as well. In a well-rounded group, if Buggzy goes down swinging, it's time for you to run for your life!
