Hello Everybody!
This isn't your regular monthly project update (That will come this Friday, or the following Monday). Instead we're here to warn our community about a potential threat to their computers.
Unfortunately, when you have a big game that people are buzzing about, there are those out there on the internet that will attempt to capitalize on that. Today, we came across a website pushing malware that claims to generate a Beta Key for Friday the 13th: The Game. We can guarantee all it will generate for you though is pain and misery in the form of having to disinfect your computer, give up personal information, or have to do a clean install of your OS. The website hosting the malware even attempts to run malicious code on your computer if you even visit it in a browser and should not even be visited.
Similar scams have been seen for other big games like GTA5 and COD:BO3, some claiming to give players mobile versions or early access to the games (at least we're running with the big boys here?). Regardless, please be careful and heed the following warnings.
Please do NOT visit any links claiming to grant codes for Friday the 13th: The Game.
Do NOT install or run any programs that claim to grant access or generate codes.
Please do NOT give any information or personal data to any websites that claim to give you Beta codes for Friday the 13th: The Game.
"Again, if it doesn't emanate directly from us or our partners (press, or streamers), don't trust it. We have not given out any codes to date, we have only taken email addresses to send them out when we get closer to the date of the Beta Test. There will be no official code generator app or website for our game. Do not be bilked by scammers.
Please spread the word on social media and help us inform the F13 Army of fans out there to ensure they aren't duped by these malicious websites/malware developers.

Project Update
Hi there! Happy Friday the 13th everybody! We have a big update for everyone, with tons of horrific fun! We do these Kickstarter Update emails about once a month and will continue to do them throughout the rest of the project.
Ready for this? Let's start with an update on what the team has been working on.
Last Week:
Design – Performed a design pass on the stat system, tested Jason's new abilities
Engineering – Completed sandbox mode, polished context kill system to more smoothly transition from normal player camera to kill camera, finished hooking up dedicated server, started work on Jason's directional locomotion transitions.
Art - Iterated on environmental lighting in Higgins Haven map, reviewed final Sackhead model, created additional environment particles and a first pass of Jason's abilities FX, continued foliage creation
Animation – started work on Jason's directional locomotion transitions, female general interaction and attack animation set, male locomotion and general interaction set.
This Week:
Design – Car tuning pass, make a consistency pass and do some clean up in the Design docs, start creating an updated 2D map of new Higgins Haven, add gameplay items to new Higgins Haven and make terrain changes as necessary for first pass
Engineering – Start polishing combat interactions, smooth out the camera for context kill interactions, hook up animations for new character models, hook up Jason's abilities VFX, add options menu for gamma slider, continue working with animators on Jason movement polish
Art - Finish lighting pass on new Higgins Haven map, set dress Higgins Haven map, adjust door sizes (reducing height so Jason fills the door frame), continue set dressing cabin floorplans, begin creating terrain textures, create Jason HUD UI mock ups, updates on Bookish Girl and Head Counselor models, create blood particles for polished kills, continue foliage creation
Animation – Rig Sackhead Jason, work on counselor bed hide, female combat animations, work with engineers on Jason movement polish

Project Update
Hey hey!! We have another massive update for everyone, packed full of fun stuff to check out! We do these Kickstarter Update emails about once a month and we will continue to do them throughout the rest of the project.
Ready to go behind the scenes? We'll start with what the team has been up to the last couple of weeks in text and video form.
Last Week:
Design – Iterated on UI design with UI Artist for front end menus and ingame HUDs, tested initial balance of gameplay systems in production build, completed first pass of vegetation on one of the production maps
Engineering – Continued playtesting, updated car repair system to work with both vehicle types (spline based and free driving), hooked up Jason's locomotion animation set, added end of round scoreboard
Art - Placed new cabin spawners in production levels, created Door assets, began Jason V7 texture polish, gave feedback to outsourcer on assets in development, continued foliage creation
Animation – Sent Female Counselor rig to Digital Domain so they can begin solving with it, continued to work on Jason's animation data
This Week:
Design – Drill down on clothing system and clothing related docs, test in production build with engineers, finished first pass on placing gameplay items on map 1 and began placing them on map 2
Engineering – Playtest and bug fix current features, got the production build stabilized so 8 man playtests can begin using it
Art - finish J7 texture polish, begin polishing and dressing the feature cabin for map 2, continue working on blood VFX, review updated Preppy Guy mesh, continue foliage creation
Animation – Work on adding the directionals/turning animations for Jason, continue to work on Jason's part of kills, begin work on Athletic Girl's data as it comes in from Digital Domain

Gameplay Overview Video #5 - Vehicles
Here in the fifth gameplay overview video, Adam Sessler will explain how vehicles fit into the gameplay and how the counselors can use them to escape with their lives!
The focus of the video was on repairing the truck, but there are lake escapes as well if you can get the boat running as well. Remember, even when fixed and on the move, Jason can still get you. You're not safe until you exit the level.
New Counselor Concept Art - Bookish Girl & Head Counselor
We have quite the pair of counselors to reveal to you. We haven't talked about either of these classes yet, but we believe they'll be quite popular once the game comes out.
First up is the Bookish Girl! Studious and small, she's very intelligence and uses her tiny stature and light step to sneak around, staying out of view from Jason.
Next we have the Head Counselor Kenny Riedell... He's smart, organized and a natural leader who oozes charisma. He can keep himself composed in even the most dire of situations which makes him someone you want to be around when Jason is nearby.
Friday the 13th at PAX East!
Join us for our panel on Friday night at 8:30PM in the Dragonfly theatre! We're hitting PAX East 2016 hard with folks from Illfonic and Gun Media to talk about Friday the 13th: The Game - "Pushing the Boundaries of Horror".
Adam Sessler will be joined by Co-Creators Wes Keltner & Ronnie Hobbs, Executive Producer Randy Greenback, Illfonic Studio Director Chuck Brungardt and Community Manager Ben Strauss to talk shop, give updates and possibly drop some big surprises!

Project Update
Well Howdy! We have another HUGE update for everyone, packed full of cool stuff to check out! We try and do these KS Update emails about once a month and will continue to do so throughout the rest of the project.
Ready to go behind the scenes? First we'll start with what the team has been up to the last couple of weeks.
Last Week:
Design – UI docs were completed and reviewed by Gun, first pass of vegetation was placed in the Camp Crystal Lake grey box map, broad gameplay balance pass on fear meter and counselor attributes in the prototype.
Engineering – Basic Main menu and lobby system were implemented and Steam integration was being tested. Context kill system and inventory system were implemented.
Art - Procedural cabins and hero buildings were beginning to be set dressed with completed outsourced assets. UI Mood board created, Progress was made for the Preppy Guy and Athletic Girl models. More vegetation was completed.
Animation – Temporary animations were created, R&D work was done on the camera system for cinematic kills.
This Week:
Design – Continue broad gameplay balancing, work with engineering on spreadsheet tool for balancing gameplay systems in the production build.
Engineering – Begin internal playtests on production build with just the Engineering team to test new gameplay systems as they are implemented and fix major bugs. Plan to implement Bloodlust meter, clean up item/weapon system interactions, clean up combat system interactions and fix any showstopping bugs from playtests.
Art - Continue dressing procedural cabins and hero assets, test different cabin layouts. Goal is to have procedural cabins working in production build for testing by the end of the week. UI Mood board revised based on Gun feedback.
Animation – Begin rigging preppy guy and athletic girl once models are approved, begin work on Jason locomotion once data from Digital Domain is delivered, complete any remaining temp animations.
Below are just but some of the work-in-progress elements that have been being pushed forward and into the game.

Gameplay Overview Video #4: Traps
Here is the fourth in a series of videos that will help explain gameplay for Friday the 13th: The Game.
This week Adam Sessler goes over traps and their usage in the game. Traps can be great, you just have to know how to use them. Of course, you'll also need to remember where they've been placed and perhaps spread the word, as they could also potentially backfire. You wouldn't want to ensnare yourself or a fellow counselor would you?

Behind the Scenes at the Mocap Shoot with Kane

Project Update
Hi Everyone! Happy New Year!! It's 2016 and we've returned with a meaty update for all of you Backers! First we'll start with what the team has been up to the last couple of weeks.
Last Week:
Design - Wrote HUD docs for Counselor and Jason, Started Shell UI docs and cabin layouts
Engineering - Started implementing Combat system and researched Vehicle Escape systems
Animation - Made block out (temporary) animations for combat system and vehicle system
Art - Created tileable cabin textures, reviewed in progress outsourced art and provided feedback
Engineering - Continued work on combat system, context kills system, research how to implement player controlled vehicle in prototype
Animation - Finished block out animations for combat system and vehicle system, tirelessly went over the animation spreadsheet and prepared a temporary animation rig for the mocap shoot next week
Art - Foliage artist started working, door assets, completed remaining cabin textures and started on house textures
Here are some environment props and other objects that are getting close to done. Keep in mind that these are works in progress and that you are viewing the game models, textures, materials, etc... along with the reference photos used. The artists are working hard to match the movie props from Camp Crystal Lake as closely as possible.
If we're going to such lengths to replicate picnic blankets, imagine what the next Jason model is going to look like!

Camp Crystal Lake Cabin Retreat and Interactive Dev Diary Add-On [Details]
This new add-on that's live on the Backer Surveys and in the Slasher Backer Store. The Virtual Cabin! Take a look at the new concept art for the Jason room!
The Camp Crystal Lake Cabin Retreat stretch goal has merged with our desire to be as transparent with our backers in our development progress and processes as possible. We're taking a virtual space, building it out, so that you can see new content pop-up in this interactive Dev Diary as it gets built. We like to find ways to keep this open communication going and make it fun too!
Every themed room in the cabin has new things to see, and as assets are produced they'll show up inside of them. Wander the cabin in first-person and see 3D models of the Weapons, Counselors and Environment Objects. One room in particular, Jason's Chambers is A MUST SEE for Friday the 13th fans! Experience the Jason models we build for the game in 3D and to scale. Walk around each Jason, seeing every small, painstaking detail that is put into bringing the notorious slasher to life.
Enjoy the cabin's radio that pumps out the music tracks from Harry Manfredini, with new music added as he finishes each track. Sit down and watch some horror classics on the TV. Fans will get to see new game assets as they are created first, and also watch videos and listen to audio from the team, interviews with horror icons like Sean Cunningham, Tom Savini, Kane Hodder and more.
This cabin also serves as a Friday the 13th Museum. There will be exhibits that highlight characters and interesting behind the scenes information both from the game and films.
This is the ultimate experience for Friday the 13th fans. All in first-person, to deeply immerse you into Friday the 13th canon and lore. You definitely won't want to miss out on this unique behind-the-scenes experience!
Gameplay Overview Video #3: Calling the Police
Here is the third in a series of videos that will help explain gameplay for Friday the 13th: The Game and one of the optional goals that counselors can go for.
This time Adam Sessler is talking about Calling the Police to help some counselors escape. Calling the Police requires fixing the outside call box in the cabin and then successfully completing a call before Jason gets to you. At that point, you now have 10 minutes till the the police show up, but you still have to make your way to them at a random entry spot on the map without Mr. Voorhees himself picking you off.
